During the week of June 8th, several Board members attended the virtual Consumer Cooperative Management Association (CCMA) conference. Jacqueline Arthur, General Manager of Three Rivers Market, presented in a session titled “Successful Food Co-ops: Thriving in a Post-COVID World.” Other topics covered during the conference were e-commerce, responding to an economic downturn, adaptive governance, and diversity and inclusion.

We were thrilled for our General Manager to share the many effective practices Three Rivers Market has implemented in response to the pandemic with conference attendees representing food co-ops across the country. We also heard from many others who are approaching the global health crisis and racial justice movement in innovative, thoughtful, impactful ways that have strengthened not only their co-ops, but their greater local communities. We look forward to discussing these ideas further at our fall retreat in October.

To begin, I would like to say thank you to you, our co-owners. Your support and cooperative spirit during the past three months have been remarkable.

We remain grateful to our outstanding management team and staff for their steadfastness and continued innovation. The store feels safe, clean, and well-stocked for our community.

The board remains here for you! Our next meeting will be held virtually Thursday, June 11, from 6:30-8:30PM. The meeting is open to all co-owners, and we continue to provide space in our agenda to hear from you. In May, the Three Rivers Market Board of Directors will once again conduct its monthly meeting via video conference due to ongoing Covid-19 precautions. Any member who would like to attend the meeting or address the board during the Member Forum can send a request to the board email: board@threeriversmarket.coop. (General questions or concerns may also be sent to the board via this email.) After next month’s meeting, the approved minutes will be available on the website. As always, we want to hear from members, even without in-person opportunities!
