This month we would like to share a recap of our 4th Annual Member Picnic; an invitation to attend a meeting in August or September and apply to run for the Board; and an invitation to TRM Talk, a series of informal opportunities for members to talk with representatives of the Board.
4th Annual Member Picnic Recap:
This year’s picnic was a wonderfully collaboration between Three Rivers Market staff, the Owner Engagement Committee (OEC), and Board members. The event was on Saturday, June 28, from 2-5 p.m. at the Ivan Racheff House & Gardens & Arboretum. We enjoyed lunch from local businesses Good Golly Tamale and Mountain Meadow Farm and dessert from Three Rivers Market, and a couple of our OEC members provided sides to complement the spread. There were activities for children to play such as Giant Jenga, checkers, and Sorry. We also provided question boards for members to comment on, providing us with some helpful suggestions. There was also a fantastic live music trio called Watson, Hopper & Hannah, who played a diverse mix of folk, blues, jazz, and more. Members were able to mingle and speak to Board members about the things they love about the co-op and things that they would like to see improved; we also had several members ask questions about running for the Board. Two very lucky people won door prizes of $50.00 each gift cards to Three Rivers Market. We hope they have enjoyed their gifts! And, of course, members were able to tour the beautiful Racheff Gardens. For those of you who were able to join us for the 4th Annual Member Picnic, we hope you enjoyed it and appreciate you coming to engage with the Board. For those of you who were not able to join us this year, we hope you will consider it for next year, as we missed you.
TRM Talk:
We understand that not everyone can make it to a monthly Board meeting and we want to talk to members about what is important to them. We are hosting a series of informal opportunities for members to talk with representatives of Three Rivers Market Board of Directors. Think: meeting to chat over lunch, coffee, or tea, maybe with a made-in-house TRM baked good, too. We hope to listen to your ideas to take back to the full Board. Your input helps us to shape our decisions in how our cooperative is governed. You will find a couple Board members in the indoor dining area of Three Rivers Market on Saturday, August 2, 2-3 PM, Tuesday, August 12, 10-11 AM, and Thursday, August 21, 6-7 PM. More sessions are scheduled in September – check your email for the full schedule, sent directly to members, or look for signs posted in the store.
Are You Interested in Running for the Board?
The Board is looking for dedicated member-owners interested in taking their TRM support to the next level. If you’re up for the challenge, reach out to the Board Perpetuation Committee via email at board@threeriversmarket.coop, or you can chat with Board members during the TRM Talks. Candidates are required to attend a Board meeting in July, August, or September, so you have two opportunities left. More information and resources for the 2025 election are on the Election page and applications are due October 1.
